Touring Warsaw & Zelazowa Wola
Morning:
Accompanied by a superb local guide you will take a delightful tour of Warsaw – the city where Chopin spend the first 20 years of his life. You will visit all the places significant for Chopin’s family, including Czapski and Kazimierzowski Palace. You won’t miss the other highlights of Warsaw: the Old Town, the Royal Route and Lazienki Royal Garden with a spectacular monument of Chopin. Every Sunday in the summer the interesting music concerts dedicated to Chopin take place here.
Afternoon:
We will depart to Zelazowa Wola, where Chopin’s parents met and where Fryderyk was born in 1810. A few months after his birth the family moved to Warsaw, but this small, beautiful mansion is the most important place to pay homage to Chopin. The next stop is the old parish church in Brochow. It is where Chopin’s parents got married and where young Fryderyk was baptized.

Torun, UNESCO Heritage gem
Morning & afternoon:
After a hearty breakfast, travel north-west to Torun, a pearl of Northern Gothic in Poland.
Chopin paid a brief visit to this city in August 1825. It was the hometown of two of his parents’ best friends: Samuel Bogumil Linde, a famous lexicographer and educator, and Frederic Skarbek, an economist and his Christian father. Chopin stayed in a house at 14 Mostowa Street, where the commemorative plaque is set into the wall nowadays. The artist could admire the beautiful medieval architecture, including the granaries, the City Hall, the splendid churches and the Crooked Tower. The tour would be incomplete without a gingerbread tasting, a real local treasure, which – regarding the letter addressed to a school friend – “made the biggest impression”.

Golub & Szafarnia, the summer holiday resorts
Morning:
Departure to Warsaw. On the way, you will visit two charming villages connected to Chopin’s life: Golub-Dobrzyn and Szafarnia.
First of them is famous for the late 13th century fortified Gothic castle of the Teutonic Knights, which made a great impression on the young composer. Today it hosts a museum and a living cultural center. The castle in Golub-Dobrzyn is known for its spectacular knight’s tournament – the largest in Central Europe! After the enjoyable visit, we will head to Szafarnia, where Chopin spent summer holidays in 1824 and 1825, visiting the residence of Dominik Dziewanowski, his school friend. Chopin’s stay in Szafarnia had a significant influence on his artistic sensitivity: it was his first contact with authentic folk music, which echoes was later reflected in the numerous compositions. The property still exists and houses the music center dedicated to our brilliant composer. Don’t forget to leave the place without taking the acorn coffee, such as Chopin drank during his stay here!
